Introduction to Law - Course



Course Purpose

This 3 Part course will provide a good basic knowledge of law and legal procedure in the UK. For those not certain if law or the legal profession is for them this course can help determine if law is the right profession for them to go into.

Course Details

This Introduction to Law course is in 3 parts. Start at any time. There are no start dates and no classes to attend. The course is a home study programme that is delivered by e-mail attachments.

Parts 1 and 2 are Academic and cover an Introduction to General Principles & Procedure in UK Law. Part 3 is Practical and teaches the you how to undertake a variety of  work assignments a legal assistant/paralegal could be asked to carry out whilst working for a law firm. If you live in or near to London there is a free optional extra which allows you to attend one of our practical legal skills training sessions held inside the High Court in central London.

On successfully completing the assignments included in the course a certificate of pass will be awarded, and 1 year discounted membership will be granted to the UK Institute of Paralegals.

Course Contents

Part 1 covers an introduction to the general principles and procedures in English Law. Part 2 is an introduction to UK criminal and civil law. Part 3 is both practical and work orientated. It covers a variety of legal work assignments that are carried out by legal assistants working for solicitors.

Work Experience?

If you would like to engage in work experience for our school this course will qualify you. The work experience will involve attending civil court trial hearings on behalf of the SAS law school. Simply let us know and we will arrange everything. A job reference is provided for those on work experience with our school.
